Issues of inheritance have splintered the family for 20 years before an enterprising sister begins a crusade for change. The play stars the talented acting duo Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless.

When there is a shortage of men during World War II in a rural Michigan town, Myrtle decides to become a preacher. She ministers to her community with wit, wisdom, a practical approach and insights far ahead of her time. But when the war ends, Myrtle must look to her close-knit family for support, as she battles small-town preconceptions that stand in the way of her continuing ministry.

Claudia Allen is a Chicago-based playwright, perhaps best known for her association with Chicago Victory Gardens Theater where many of her plays have been produced. She has written over thirty plays, including Winter, Ripe Conditions, Deed of Trust, Still Waters, Eulah, Change and Cahoots. As well as her prolific output for the stage, Allen teaches creative writing at the University of Chicago.
